12 Days to Go…
So many suitcases…
In twelve days, we’ll board a plane and begin what has been six months in the making: a year in India.
For anyone who has asked, “Are you ready?” the answer is surprisingly simple: yes.
The journey itself may only start in twelve days, but the planning started long ago. Over the past six months we’ve worked through visas, schools, housing, healthcare, transportation, and a thousand details that never make it into the travel photos. We’ve secured our apartment in Hyderabad, finalized Jack’s school, assembled a healthcare plan, found an incredible caregiver to support Jack’s transition, arranged our doctors, organized a driver, and worked through enough paperwork to fill a small filing cabinet.
At times it felt less like planning a trip and more like preparing for a moon landing.
There were moments when the list seemed endless. Every item we crossed off revealed three more that needed attention. But slowly, one decision at a time, the pieces began to come together.
And now, for the first time, it feels real.
The checklists are mostly complete. The big decisions have been made. The unknowns that once felt overwhelming have become manageable. What’s left is the easy part: packing our bags, saying our goodbyes, and stepping onto the plane.
Of course, we’re excited. How could we not be?
In the year ahead we’ll call Hyderabad home. We’ll explore India one long weekend at a time. We’ll experience new cultures, foods, languages, landscapes, and friendships. There will undoubtedly be challenges, surprises, mistakes, and moments when things don’t go according to plan. But that’s part of the reason we’re going.
This website is where we’ll share the journey—the places we visit, the lessons we learn, the people we meet, and the memories we make along the way.
Twelve days from now, the planning ends and the adventure begins.
See you from India.
